WHY SHOULD JEWS STAND WITH ISRAEL

Because Israel is far more than a country. It is the only Jewish state in the world and the only nation created as a homeland for the Jewish people.

For nearly 2,000 years, Jews lived as minorities scattered among the nations of the world. Some found acceptance but others endured persecution, expulsion, discrimination, and ultimately the horrors of the Holocaust. History has taught a painful lesson: the security of Jewish communities in other nations can never be taken for granted. We are witnessing this in realtime and, quite honestly, it is hard to comprehend. 

However, the reestablishment of the State of Israel in 1948 provides the solution. 

Today, every Jew on earth knows there is one nation where Jewish life, Jewish culture, Jewish faith, and Jewish identity are not dependent upon the permission or goodwill of others. There is one place where Jews will always have a safe home and a prosperous future and that place is Israel.

When antisemitism rises anywhere in the world, Jews have somewhere to turn. They have a homeland with open doors, a flag of their own, a government of their own, and defenders committed to their protection. Israel stands as a guarantee that never again will the Jewish people be without a place of refuge.

But the reason Jews should support Israel goes much deeper. 

The Jewish people are the people through whom God gave the world the Scriptures. Through the Jewish people came the prophets, the patriarchs, and the promises of God. Through the Jewish people came the Messiah.

Christians believe the Messiah has already come and will come again. Most religious Jews believe He has yet to come but both agree on this: when He comes, He will be the Jewish Messiah foretold by the prophets and a blessing to the entire world.

Israel is not merely another nation among nations. It is the historic homeland of the Jewish people, the guardian of Jewish continuity, and the only Jewish state on earth.

That alone is reason enough for every Jew to stand with Israel.
